My name is Chris Charnitski. I am a science teacher who is passionate about science teaching and the NGSS – and who has recently left the classroom to help schools and teachers make the shift to the transformational Next Generation Science Standards. I have been working with educators and the NGSS for over 5 years – at conferences, training institutes and at international schools. When visiting schools, I will typically spend 2 – 3 days training the larger groups and a few days either working with individual teachers or facilitating small groups to begin to think purposefully about unit development and what these conceptual shifts might look like in the classroom. Most schools now are interested in continued, sustained PD to work towards cohesive assessment systems and unit design – and I typically continue to work with schools over a few years. You can see a list of recent conferences I’ve presented at and schools I’ve visited below, and check out testimonials from teachers and leaders I have had the privilege of working with (by following the “testimonials” link above).
