Testimonials

Chris Charnitski put on the best professional development session I’ve attended, regardless of content area or topic. And, he modeled good teaching practice the entire time. The presenter was extremely knowledgeable on the topic of NGSS. His planning for our time together was very thorough and he made sure that we got the most out of our time together.

This was probably the single most useful professional development I have ever had. The information presented was all useful and methods for implementation were clearly designated. In addition, all time was utilized efficiently to maximize amount of information without overloading participants with content.

Chris,

Thanks again!  My 8th graders just had a blast landing their Mars Rover!  I had two girl teams lead the pack.  This led to a great conversation on engineering and … women in engineering.

Cheers,

Hi Chris!

Thank you so much for all the resources that you have sent since March 28!:)  Greaaaaat stuff!  I am sure they will be a great help to us with our curriculum reviews, our decisions, and also our science teaching in general!

I will take the opportunity of this email to also thank you for our amazing two days at NESA!  I think I have put it all in the feedback form and will not repeat, but they were truly fruitful and so inspiring – not only from a science perspective of course, but also from a professional and a personal one.  Both of you (reference to: Carey Johnson) are amazing persons!

Good luck in the journey ahead, and all my best!

“Thank you Chris. Your knowledge and experience in NGSS and your inclusive processes in facilitating every session has allowed me to deepen my understanding as well as take away with me a powerful facilitating tool. Having worked with [other NGSS PD providers] A LOT, I think I got more out of this session than I [have from any other previous sessions on the NGSS]. Chris had a … practical approach – giving us examples to look at and evaluate, teaching us about the resources available and then finally getting us to write assessment. I wish this session was longer. If this was in the spring institute, I feel like we could accomplish so much. I am just thankful that my school is looking at bringing Chris in to work with us more.”

Congratulations on a successful educators conference in Bangkok. The NGSS pre-conference work has my team really buzzing.

Best,     Greg

I found the interactive nature of the session to be quite helpful. For instance, actually taking the assessments and making my own assessments from various sources helped me understand the process.

“I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with you over the past few years. You are infinitely valuable! Thank you.

2 days not enough for NGSS, more time needed. Good job on the content. Highly useful course, we came away with tools to use and had the opportunity to network with others at various stages of implementation or investigation.

Thanks Chris for your calm, thoughtful, safe feeling approach that modeled how we want to work with our students as we take them on the journey through science understanding and PRACTICE to make sense of the world around us. Your emphasis on using scenarios and phenomena as a hook was great (Every science investigation is an investigation of the phenomenon around us. That is science.)

I feel that I now have a better understanding of NGSS and the broader perspective to realize how far I still have to go. ‘The more you know, the more you realize what you don’t know.’ Excellent workshop by Chris. Many ‘lightbulbs’ went off in my head over the past two days. Thank you so much, Chris and NESA!

This NESA conference has specically helped us in gaining a deeper understanding of the 3 dimensions to be used in alignment with the ngss standards. Chris did an excellent job of making the content meaningful for his participants, who were coming from a wide variety of experience, background and grade levels. Everything we focused on was practical and timely to where our school is in the process. The session was very engaging. Thank you Chris!

Chris took us through many resources and protocols that will help me to build more rigorous units and assessments that address all three dimensions to a greater extent. I am more aware of the need/wish to include cross cutting concepts. I hope to continue to work through planning a specic unit with the help of a template.

This workshop was well organized and helpful. Chris was able to explain and help facilitate the development of understanding around the philosophy of NGSS and how it relates to assessment. He was able to support all levels of teaching. Further NGSS-based training on designing units, examples of curriculum and resources being released to develop school-level curriculum, as well as continue to offer introductory level NGSS courses for those new to the material.

I would love to continue to work with Chris. His knowledge and practical approach was AMAZING!

Hi Chris,

We really enjoyed having you here. Thank you for sharing your deep understanding of NGSS and for your willingness to engage personally with each of our teachers. They felt very supported, and they are anxious to get going!

Director of Teaching and Learning, Morocco

I wanted to thank you again for the excellent and interesting two days about NGSS. I really enjoyed it and learning about NGSS from you and am feeling very excited for the journey ahead. I have in fact just found a great bundle and am feeling very reflective about the changes to our science curriculum and the new learning which will be going on in our classrooms.
