Hands down I get more feedback from educators about Our World in Data than any other web based resource I share during professional development. Building data literacy skills is paramount at every grade level as we all transition to this brave new world. The organization’s tagline is “Research and data to make progress against the world’s largest problems.” This site, which is all open access and open source, allows educators and students to search across a deep and varied database for data that might fit into a storyline or help explain a phenomenon. It is easily searchable and you can sign up to get ‘data insights’ in your inbox. I signed up years ago and appreciate the reminder that Our World is out there helping us all make sense of some of the most important challenges facing humanity. Try not to fall down this rabbit hole – or free fall and enjoy the journey.
